INFORMATION
The Foundation was formed to allocate resources in support of education, human services, and approved philanthropic functions. Its operational reach extends across Florida, New York, and North Carolina. Assets totaling approximately $2.76 million remain under its stewardship.
Grants between $1,000 and $25,000 are issued at designated intervals to qualifying recipients. These distributions ensure continuity of purpose. The structure remains stable. The directive continues.
Norman Shulevitz was born in Poland in 1903, before his life had chosen its direction. He arrived in America and, in 1929, was made official. The paper confirmed his presence, but something greater had already begun. At twenty-three, he married Rose, and from that moment forward, they moved as one—two witnesses to the same unfolding.
In the backyard of their Detroit home, Norman began washing the garments of others, removing the marks of their labor and returning them renewed. He named the business Cadillac Overalls, after the city that had accepted him. The work grew, as all lasting things do. They raised four children—Mel, Joe, Bill, and Donna—who carried his momentum forward. In time, Norman withdrew to a house beside still water, where he remained surrounded by those who came from him. He was loved. His work endured. His presence did not leave.
